Known limitations — Concepts (site-wide index)

This page collects the honest caveats documented across the site. Each area also keeps its own detailed list; the links point to the authoritative source.

Mocap#

  • Inertial drift. All inertial tracking accumulates error: heading drift (orientation about the vertical axis) and root drift (world position). Long recordings drift more. This is inherent to the method, not a fault. → Concept - Mocap, Studio - Known Limitations
  • 9-axis mode is experimental. The magnetometer-enabled 9-axis mode is still in development, available only in test mode, and not the default. Use 6-axis mode in standard cases. → Concept - Mocap
  • Magnetic interference. 9-axis mode is degraded by nearby ferromagnets, large metal objects, and strong electromagnetic fields; the suit may in turn disturb sensitive equipment nearby. → Hardware - Known Limitations
  • 6-axis calibration is not persisted. It is not saved between sessions, so recalibrate each time and again as drift accumulates. → Control Center - Known Limitations

Haptics#

  • Per-person calibration required. Sensation depends on electrode-to-skin contact and individual skin properties, and varies from session to session; calibration is required and some discomfort can remain even when calibrated. → Concept - Haptics, Hardware - Known Limitations
  • EMS parameters are not gated by channel. Nothing prevents EMS-strength effects on channels that are not over a muscle; choosing the right channels is the author's responsibility. → Concept - Haptics

Biometry (PPG)#

  • HRV start-up delay. HRV is calculated from many inter-beat intervals, so values are unavailable for a short buffering period after the sensor starts. → Concept - Biometry (PPG)
  • Heart rate during movement. Motion artifacts can make direct measurement unreliable; values are then extrapolated and marked with the is_valid flag. → PPG API

Hardware and operating envelope#

  • Operating range. Rated for 5 to 35 °C and 20 to 65 % relative humidity (storage up to 85 % RH). Operation outside this range is not guaranteed to be safe or accurate. → Hardware - Known Limitations
  • Session length. Not intended for daily use; keep a single session to about one hour. This is a safety constraint, not a technical cap. → Hardware - Safety
  • Power and connectivity prerequisites. XR5 includes a power bank (shipped separately) and a Wi-Fi adapter in the case; both are easy to overlook on first unpack, and the adapter is needed when the host PC has no Wi-Fi. → Hardware - Known Limitations
